Excellent piece. As much as I personally abhor force, every progressive should have their eyelids safety-pinned open before they are allowed to blog, post or speak on topics related to the issues contained in this one hour piece. Bravo!
Unfortunately, much like conventional medicines’s solution to cancer, government is feeding the beast rather than getting to the source of the problem. But government “problem solvers” frequently prosper the more they fail. The only hope is to inform the sheeple, if this isn’t an oxymoron. Informed sheeple?
Yes BB, but are you aware that you are obviously allergic to the truth?
I wouldn’t expect you to try to disprove what the man presents—because you can’t!
The reason is prog is not a rational body of thought but a form of therapy, a way to make progs feel better. When you illustrate how destructive prog is, progs feel real bad and lash out.
The entire screw ball left is nothing but a “dog whistle”. This piece is 95% irrefutable science. That accusation is completely baseless. All stats were completely above board and nothing was indirect. All assertions were in fact up front and backed up by the stats. Yawn. BB, I think maybe it’s time for Buddhism or maybe even Islam for you. This prog stuff is wearing you down.
Wikipedia–A dog whistle (also known as silent whistle or Galton’s whistle) is a type of whistle that emits sound in the ultrasonic range, which people cannot hear but dogs and cats can. It is used in the training of dogs and cats. It was invented in 1876 by Francis Galton. The whistle was mentioned in his book Inquiries into Human Faculty and its Development[1] in which he describes experiments to test the range of frequencies that could be heard by various animals, such as a cat.
It’s use by BB is as an accusation of a hidden meaning in the piece known only by the author. The hilarious part of this accusation is that this piece was nothing if it wasn’t completely straight forward – no hidden meanings or double entendres of any kind. BB was projecting his guilt upon the author as the left engages in this projection, reaction formation or “dog whistling” on a regular basis.
>I was waiting for the first non-response by a prog. Progs rarely if ever engage in argument.
I still remember engaging with you guys on Poloncarz’ election day (you were the Tea Party then and there were more of you) and being informed that the middle class is a lib’rul talking point invented by Lawrence O’Donnell; that because the definition of the middle class is open to broad interpretation therefore it doesn’t exist; that leading economic indicators like consumer confidence or housing starts take a back seat to “I was driving around Ohio and saw landscaping trucks”.
Small wonder engaging with this kind of rhetoric is a fool’s errand. Small wonder Glenn Beck pulls in $80 mil a year peddling fear to you folks for ten bucks a month (not to mention the $130 jeans and the same book over and over). Small wonder your Tea Party approval numbers are in the single digits. Must be them “sheeple”.
You just confirm my thesis that progs cannot engage in argumentation to defend their positions. Must always (1) name call (2) use humor (3) ad hominem (4) change subject.
BTW, I have been the same for 35 years–radical libertarian. Worst kept secret of all time.
There he goes again with his Beck fetish, but I’ll humor BB though he continues to evade the subject of the post.
I’ll choose “E. Bad and will get worse”, because with a prog goverment and its prog economy interventions—what else could you possibly expect?
BB, you keep returning to that same old theme of who manipulates the sheeple better. I stipulated that point to you a long time ago. Democrats (or liberals) are much better at the lying game (propaganda) than Republicans (or conservatives). The fact that Nixon died a disgraced felon and Hillary is not presently in prison and in fact has a nearly 70% approval rating proves this point as well as my ubiquitous refrain of the easy manipulation of the gullible sheeple. The sheeple voted for Obama and are clearly worse off.
“Globalization” – by this silly label you are of course referring to Chinese, Indian and the third world in general, slave labor, which has decimated a large segment of the American middle class. Finally, it appears Chinese laborers are beginning to wise up and demand more than a few bucks for working all day. Good for them and the sheeple of Egypt for fighting back against the tyranny of Obama, Hillary and Morsi.
Related to this of course is the climate change debate. Assuming temperatures are indeed rising and this is in turn a result of carbon “poisoning” on a large scale, how and who will tell the “emerging markets” – India and China to back off carbon emissions? Better yet, cite a single screwball left winger who takes the Chinese or Indians to task on this “issue”? I will be waiting patiently for an answer with Mr. Godot.
Your article also leaves out the major elephant in the room of all elephants that have ever been in any room – the 17 trillion dollar debt. Oops, I apologize. It won’t be 17 million until July 4th or so – Independence Day – nice.
Finally, the undeniable proof that Barry is nothing more than a shameless, sheeple manipulator is the simple fact that when it came to the banks or sheeple, who got a bailout? And why? The sheeple Barry already had wrapped up with giveaways, but if the economy crashed, he clearly would not be re-elected. So what did the world class, gutless, phony manipulator do? He kicked the can down the road so he can stay in power. It’s all about Barry and let’s keep it up. I’m having a blast watching him screw up the country. Wait till the banks get tired of their private poker game and Wall Street profits, created by the Fed printing money endlessly, and lend it to the sheeple. At that point as Bette Davis once said: “Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night”. And I get four more years of this? This is simply not fair. Truth IS stranger than fiction. Lighten up and enjoy the show. I am after all an optimist, albeit a selfish one.
Exactly. Wasn’t he that pale faced guy with a blond crew cut who was on TV a few years back? BB, you stalk him on a daily or hourly basis. Where can we view or read him today? I’m always looking for a laugh.
Happy to oblige, though “laugh” seems somewhat close to (2) use humor which your host just condemned.
Imagine going through life without a sense of humor … correct me if I’m wrong (oh you will all right), all ideologies, from the mainstream to the fringe (e.g. radical libertarian) are based in a desire for a better quality of life. Can’t imagine life being better by forfeiting a sense of humor! It would make you the real-life equivalent of Margaret Dumont or the pompous antagonists in classic Three Stooges episodes. No thanks.
I’ll choose “E. Bad and will get worse”, because with a prog goverment and its prog economy interventions—what else could you possibly expect?
Thanks for being the only one to answer, which frankly is one more answer than I expected.
I go between E and D … E because the plutocrats still call the shots, D because E is unsustainable no matter what the overlords do.
A true capital-L Libertarian would of course have answered A. as the ideology is one of fealty to the Mighty Barons Of Industry and contempt towards the rank and file. Worship the one percent, hate the 99. Of course they can’t come right out and admit it so they have to evade, deflect, name-call, and get back to work on that perpetual self-victimhood.
BB, I think you are taking some comments too literal. Jim loves humor, funny humor that is. I will anxiously review both links and get back to you.
But you must get over the fact that tons of humans with no visual talent make millions. The left is loaded with them – Gore, both Clintons, Madonna Krugman (not sure he makes millions, but he is the operational definition of an economic moron), Immelt and I could gone on for days. I’m sure you get the idea. Get over it. Try and invent something that doesn’t presently exist, sell it and you’ll stop eating your heart out. Good luck.
Obama made millions peddling his nonsense to rubes and he never did anything productive in his life, actually quite the opposite. Typical for political class thugs.
This constant obsession with Beck is just a diversion from facing his own guilt. Poor BB can’t stand the thought of what progressivism has really done, so he strikes out against all critics to make him feel better.
So Beck said “This is the disease. This is the disease in America”, adding “progressivism is the cancer in America and it is eating our Constitution!”
No doubt that’s the truth but Beck is a relative newcomer to that revelation, I knew that when I was in high school. Beck hasn’t been able to totslly shake off his own progressivism, the same with his devout followers, but it is cancer of the mind after all. God willing maybe they’ll be cured someday.
As is always obvious, progs have no conception of what a libertarian is, capiltal L or lower l. There’s something with that collectivist tumor called a brain that makes it just out of reach.
Glen Beck was a false flag operation. Ray is right. Libertarians were at war with the progs way before he was born. Heard my first Rothbard lecture on it in 1979.
Well then if we’re all on the same page regarding Beck’s charlatanism, exploiting the fears of the gullible for profit, no point in beating that horse any more.
Y’know Jim, I’m going to apologize to you for misreading that bit about NO HUMOR — I see your site has links to humor sites like the Onion and the Daily Show, as well as unintentional-humor sites like World Net Daily and the Mises Institute. Mea culpa.
I knew that when I was in high school.
I embraced libertarianism in high school as well.
Anyone else want to weigh in on the divergence between productivity / per capita GDP and household incomes? Here’s the link again if you somehow missed it:
Where do some people get the idea that we embrace the one percenters and have contempt for the ninety-niners?
We have made it perfectly clear for years here that we support value creators and oppose extractors. A value creator could be someone who mows your lawn or creates an Ipad and everything in between.
BB, you’re one of the exceptions to the rule in that the longer you live your life, the more liberal you become? Hmmm..you are a different breed then.
I already explained the divergence. US union wages – 30 bucks an hour and up – foreign labor can be had for 10 dollars or less and frequently much less. A large part of the former US middle class are union members. Owners of US companies opt for cheaper labor. Ergo, a large segment of American labor gets unemployment and food stamps. BB, if fixing your roof would cost 5 grand with an American Union “pro” or 400 with a foreign laborer, who would you choose? Remember, you are under oath!!
And…if anyone has forgotten, the FreeNY movement was a response to a big tax increase on the ninety-niners coinciding with a proposed big giveaway to the one percenter BassPro.
I was in college in 1979. When I was in high school, I was a liberal. But thanks for changing the subject–it was your view that Glen Beck has had any influence on us here. You’re on the wrong website.
I think the closest that Bbil may have gotten to embracing libertarianism was if he once had a libertarian girlfriend.
I love these progs pondering why the “divergence between productivity / per capita GDP and household incomes”.
Is it only obvious to us? We’ve livng under the increasing yoke of progressive government regulation, taxation, funny money and government economic interventions all our lives and way before that. But the progs will make a rediculous argument that it’s free market plutocrats and laissez faire capitalism that are to blame. WTF!
BB, you’re one of the exceptions to the rule in that the longer you live your life, the more liberal you become?
One of my favorite some-guy-on-the-internet-said-it quotes that really belongs in Bartlett’s:
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.” — John Rogers
In a search for some common ground … I think we’re all happy to see that the Tea Party has chosen young Rand to deliver their SOTU response next week.
I don’t know anything about the gun running allegations, but it would hardly be surprising. If 5% of the Clinton rumors are half true in Arkansas, the gun running is child’s play. Have a ball and google: Bill Clinton and Mena Airport. I suggest a two liter bottle of wine. I know you are thorough. It’s gonna be a long night.
John Rogers, isn’t that the guy who wrote Dungeons & Dragons? His visions of life in a progressive Utopia I guess. And he’s criticizing Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged? HA!
Speaking of the SOTU, side bets anyone? I say Barry does not mention the soon to be 17 trillion debt a single time. When you have a “leader” who is terrible on so many different issues, it’s nice to be able to concentrate on one, one that is easy to understand even for the sheeple, The very sheeple that will be paying 20 grand yearly for the health care they so badly “needed”. If I’m right, then the mini-debate becomes: Is the national debt a big deal? The idiot Krugman says no. I had a long discussion with a JP Morgan investment banker and we agreed that that the so called trillion dollar coin Krugman favors and most rational analysts decided was loopy has already been de facto enacted in the form of all the Fed money printed since Barry took office. So Barry’s two big economic moves since he was elected has been to bail out the banks at the expense of the sheeple and to print inordinate amounts of money to prop them up (the banks), again at the expense of the sheeple. The “coin of the realm” indeed!
A communiqué came down to Bbill from his lord and master Obamadon telling him to ignore all truthtellers and put all efforts into hijacking threads with deceptive and idiotic prog nonsense.
BB, remember THE DEBT must be mentioned explicitly. he may talk forever about the deficit. – No good as it’s a smoke screen to keep the sheeple in place.
Jim, progressives know this and I truly believe that they want as much crime as possible. Call me cynical or paranoid.
BB, the standard here is 50.1 % not 95% as in a court of law. Just one question. How could one of the most corrupt politicians of our time run a state that rivaled Florida and California in terms of illicit drug traffic and not be completely aware? Yawn.
Toronto with a population of 2.6 million had 54 homicides in 2012. 33 were due to shootings. And they have dozens of gang members. Detroit with a population of 706,585 had 411 homicides, most committed by guns. And they have dozens of gang members. But Toronto has strict gun control. Detroit has the second highest rate (41.4 per 100,000) of gun deaths; Las Vegas (36.9) is third, and of course New Orleans is first with 69.1 per 100,000. Chicago isn’t even in the top 10 Cities with the Highest Rates of Total Gun-Related Deaths! And NYC has the second lowest gun deaths (4.9) of all large U.S. cities. They have hundreds of gangs, “illegitimate families” (a bullshit term) and gun control!
But Michael what about the strange “dog whistle” charge? The amazing thing about that charge is that among the many fine qualities of the piece one of the most admirable is it’s transparency, something the left is sorely lacking in their respective “discourses”. Simply put, illegitimacy when it occurs anywhere leads to welfare and violence, specifically gun violence. Well said. Period.
If I had to psychologically profile Bbill, I would say that he justifies the progressive agenda, even though it clearly doesn’t work, because it provides a reason to validate his worth as a human being, and he isn’t able to admit that to himself that it is wrong.
I will elaborate on this more in my new book but–progressivism is a form of therapy, a way to make its adherents feel better about living in a complex, precarious world. It’s not a logical or fact-based system of thought. It’s not rational. It’s not an argument or even a series of them. That’s why when it is shown to be absurd and evil, its adherents do not respond or cease their belief. They attack, insult, change the subject. They will not give up their favored form of therapy.
I got a waste of perfectly good paper in the mail from pro-poverty Sen. Tim Kennedy wanting me to support increasing the minimum wage.
These are his quick facts that are suppose to convince me:-)
1.) In the City Of Buffalo, 48% of children live in poverty. (No shit, is there anyplace that has suffered more under the progressive agenda that Tim supports? He wants to give them more!)
2.) When the minimum wage goes up $1.00, it results in an economic stimulus of about $3,000 per minimum wage household for the year. (Hmm…does that count for the people whose jobs disappear or hours get cut because of the minimum wage? Tim’s got a calculator, but no brains.)
3.) 19 states currently have a minimum wage higher than New York State. (I’m surprised that any state outside of CA has exceeded NYS in idiotic progressive pro-poverty programs.)
In NYS, nearly 1 million workers will be positively impacted by increased minimum wage, in Erie County 71,400 workers would benefit. ( Tim must have a crystal ball that told him writing another anti-liberty, pro-poverty law makes people richer. I did meet someone yesterday that will be positively impacted by NYS progressiveness, his family is moving to Tennessee to escape being made poorer by progressives like comrade Tim.)

Yes, an exellent presentation. Not that I needed to be convinced but the evidence is clear. Progressivism is a crime against humanity.

Hopefully we’ll learn more about that Libya-to-Turkey gun running conspiracy theory!
Enjoy yer weekend, peeps.

Again, you’re on the wrong site. I can’t speak for the others but I don’t care for Rand Paul at all.
February 8th, 2013 at 8:09 pm
BB, was that a sneaky way to equate Ayn Rand and Rand Paul? Nice try.

February 8th, 2013 at 11:02 pm

Howdy folks … still checking out the Clinton / Mena airport thing — I’m guessing you don’t want snopes.com involved.
While all a-google I did find this though.

Anything you may have to say about this kerfluffle would be appreciated, nay savored.

Duly noted. If he mentions it more than once, do you technically win?

Welfare (progressivism) creates fatherless families which produces criminals is the point of the post.

“Freedom” means freedom to toe the line.
“Liberty” means stick to the narrative.
This is like staying too long in a redneck bar with touchy bouncers. Adios, enjoy your c.j.

PS – since RonPaul has proven himself to be a charlatan and a fraud his cult has been severely devalued.
February 10th, 2013 at 1:03 pm
A communiqué came down to Bbill from his lord and master Obamadon telling him to ignore all truthtellers and put all efforts into hijacking threads with deceptive and idiotic prog nonsense.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:22 pm
BB, remember THE DEBT must be mentioned explicitly. he may talk forever about the deficit. – No good as it’s a smoke screen to keep the sheeple in place.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:27 pm
Jim, progressives know this and I truly believe that they want as much crime as possible. Call me cynical or paranoid.
BB, the standard here is 50.1 % not 95% as in a court of law. Just one question. How could one of the most corrupt politicians of our time run a state that rivaled Florida and California in terms of illicit drug traffic and not be completely aware? Yawn.

Why are you guys wasting time debating this anonymous troll?
He’s probably having wet dreams over Prince Andrew eliminating murders by reducing firearms magazines by three bullets.

47 comments, 12 by Bbill and he never offered one sentence directly refuting anything in the superb video presentation.

February 18th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
But Michael what about the strange “dog whistle” charge? The amazing thing about that charge is that among the many fine qualities of the piece one of the most admirable is it’s transparency, something the left is sorely lacking in their respective “discourses”. Simply put, illegitimacy when it occurs anywhere leads to welfare and violence, specifically gun violence. Well said. Period.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:24 pm
The “dog whistle” is nothing but a red herring because he had nothing else.
February 18th, 2013 at 10:27 pm

February 19th, 2013 at 7:27 am
A good example is the minimum wage. They keep peddling this obviously absurd and obviously failed policy. Why? See my comment above.
February 19th, 2013 at 7:38 pm
February 19th, 2013 at 11:41 pm
Ray, NY ranks 4th on the list of states with the most people fleeing for other states.
