Special Election for Gillibrand Seat a great opportunity for libertarians

There will be a special election for Gillibrand’s seat in the coming weeks.
This would be a great opportunity to act.
Special elections, naturally, are largely controlled by the machines. However, it is possible to do an end run around them. The Election Law allows for an independent nomination for special elections.
They make it tough. Time would be short and you need to file 3500 signatures. But it is doable. We would need at least 50 carriers.
The difficulties of this are obvious so I won’t belabor them.
Here’s the upside. There will be intense media focus on this race so it’s great chance to make a splash. It’s the only election at that time so all like-minded folks from around the country can get involved. And turnout in special elections is extremely low so a major push can actually make an impact.
It’s a large rural district which normally would favor the machine but our skill with the internet can even the odds in a low turnout race. And we have all the voters on a computer database already.
I assume the Republicans will put up some journeyman hack with a Rockefeller Republican philosophy.
This would be a great opportunity to run an independent liberty-oriented candidate for Congress.
