State of the Tea Party Movement
Written by James Ostrowski on April 23, 2009 – 3:48 pm -The Tea Party Movement has come out of nowhere to become the de facto opposition party to the Demopublicans.
The Republican Party is moribund and useless.
The left and MSM have tried every smear in the book against us but the fact remains: we are a true, spontaneous grassroots and working class movement, judging from those I have seen at the Buffalo events.
It’s true that there are GOP operatives, pundits, and well-funded think tanks trying to control and shape the movement. Nothing startling about that. We must simply be aware of their presence and their motives and fight them when necessary. If all they do is promote our events, fine.
Merely because the movement is real and grassroots does not mean that we are all on the same page. These differences need to be confronted and resolved sooner rather than later.
These are some of the issues that need to be resolved.
Are we merely a rearguard, reactive movement against Obama or are we a proactive movement to restore the old republic and dethrone the corporate state that both parties have served for 92 years (1917)?
Is our goal to elect neocon Republicans? (The horror!)
Is our primary means of change to be direct action or electoral politics?
What is the range of issues we are concerned with? Immigration? Social issues?
What is our strategy? Do we have one?
Frankly, the movement as a whole has not answered these questions and this has been noted by many critics.
What I have tried to do with the WNY Tea Party is:
State a clear goal for the movement: restore the republic.
Provide a panoramic view of the major policy changes that must be enacted.
Create a strategy for victory that does not rely on conventional politics.
These ideas and strategies have been posted on this blog and promoted nationally by the inimitable Ilana Mercer. They have received rave reviews so far. But we here at PCD are outmanned, outspent, outgunned by those who want to smear or manipulate the movement for their own foul agendas. Can we prevail? We must!
What people need to do is this. Ask and answer the questions above to your own satisfaction and act accordingly.
If you are with us, then send our 12-point plan far and wide and start doing it.
It’s not the best strategy yet devised for tea party movement. It’s the only strategy.
If you are not with us, then I am afraid you are sadly deluded. A rearguard action against big government cannot work. Big government is a steamroller that cannot be stopped by tossing pebbles in its path. The best way to stop a steamroller is with an earthquake!
If you follow ideas and leaders who have already been tried and have failed, then you will have no one to blame but yourselves. Please people, your children are counting on you. Failure is not an option.

I am starting a database for people interested in news on the tea party movement. Just send me an email if you wish to join. It will be low-traffic and confidential.
We need to hold a rally in WNY on July 4th. We need a venue that can accommodate 5-10 thousand people with plenty of parking. Preferably in the Walden—Transit area. If we hold it early, it will not interfere with your parties.
Finally, there is a march on Washington planned for September 12th. Save the date.

There has to be a focal point and I would suggest Government Spending.
