Earlier this week Carl was being interviewed on WBEN. He made a comment in regard to collecting taxes from the Indians. He suggested that if he were governor he (paraphrasing) would send 180 state troopers down there and force them to pay taxes. Does he have an understanding of the term Sovereignty?
Would he feel the same way if the Federal Govt.tried something similar with NYS sovereignty ? It doesn’t matter which Indians receive the profits, it’s their business ! Their a Sovereign Nation.

I heard it too Tom. It was quite shocking to hear Carl lapse into an authoritarian sounding tantrum.
I think if you want to defeat the Albany thugs, you don’t want to find ways to force more draconian taxes on the people.
We’ve got enough liberals finding ways to tax people in the name of helping people.

While I agree with less taxes are better, I don’t agree with the Indians arbitraging US citizen/Sovereign Nation status when it suits them. If the want to be a sovereign nation, fine: no State or county police coming to their aid. no fire services, no public schools, etc. The Tax treaty says that NY State can’t tax sales to Indians on sovereign Nation property. It wasn’t meant to allow them to have an 8.75% advantage on the other competing businesses. We rail against govt. handouts to favored firms, this is analogous.

When we complain the newcomers are not hardcore enough, it’s a good sign. It means we have newcomers.

This is a sign that Carl hasn’t put forth the effort yet to understand Liberty.
